Design Is Not Just What It Looks Like. Design Is How It Works.

Egowall gives you the tools to create a rich online environment which best represents your real self – one that anyone can visit at any time.

To do so, we provide you with access to 16 unique 3D living spaces as well as hundreds of custom furniture items (available in several styles).

In this blog post, we want to provide some information on how to manage those furniture assets with the spaces via the following short videos and accompanying text.

In the subsections below we will be discussing the following:

  • Placing Furniture Objects

  • Cloning Furniture Objects

  • Removing Furniture Objects

Placing Furniture Objects

“Placing” refers to the act of placing a 3D furniture object in a legal location (i.e., one allowed by the game’s physics) within a room.

To place a furniture object follow these steps:

  1. Click the Inventory button at lower left of the user interface.

  2. Using the available drop down menus, navigate to the desired Theme / Furniture type (e.g., Contemporary | Seating).

  3. Click on one of the furniture objects to display its Furniture Detail Panel.

  4. Click the Add to Space button, which highlights the Move button on the Palette Menu and opens the Grid Snapping Menu.

  5. Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off).

  6. Place the object by moving the cursor to the desired destination spot and clicking there.

  7. After initial placement, you can tweak the location of the object by

    • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along those axes, OR

    • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows and dragging to move the object freely in the space.

  8. Once you’ve settled on the final position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it; that action will clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu. The Move button remains selected.

Cloning Furniture Objects

We make it easy for you when you want to place a second (or third, or …) copy of a particular furniture piece in a room. You can quickly pull from inventory or buy one on the spot if you don’t already own one.

To clone/duplicate a furniture object placed in the currently occupied room, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Clone button on the Palette Toolbar or type the “c“/”C” shortcut key.

  2. Click on the desired object.

  3. If you already own at least one more unplaced instance of the selected object

    • Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off)

    • Move the cursor away from the selected object and a copy of it (pulled from your existing inventory) will appear

    • Click on the spot where you want to place the cloned object

    • After initial placement, if you want to tweak the location of the placed object, you can do so by

      • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along that axis, OR

      • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to move the object freely in the space

    • Once you’ve settled on the proper position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it, which will also clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu.

  4. If you do not already own at least one more unplaced instance of the selected object

    • Click on the Buy Now button to purchase another instance of the object

    • Click on the Add to Space button

    • Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off)

    • Click on the spot where you want to place the cloned object

    • After initial placement, if you want to tweak the location of the placed object, you can do so by

      • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along that axis, OR

      • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to move the object freely in the space

    • Once you’ve settled on the final position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it, which will also clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu.

Removing Furniture Objects

When it’s time to redecorate a room in your living space(s), you need a place for that old furniture. No need to turn to Goodwill. Just return any placed object to your inventory.

To remove a furniture object from a room follow these steps.

  1. Click on the Rebox button on the Palette Toolbar or type the “x”/”X” shortcut key.

  2. Click on the desired object. It will immediately be returned to inventory.

  3. Verify its return to inventory by clicking the Inventory button and using the available drop down menus to navigate to the object’s Theme / Furniture type.
