In the latest of our series of posts about enhancements to the Egowall user interface,  we’re talking about the process of buying things.

There are three types of purchases that players can make in the game:

1. living spaces

2. digital objects (furniture, frames, etc.)

3. Ego Points

New users are provided with one free, furnished living space – the Mountain Lot.

In addition, they receive 1500 Ego Points for use in purchasing digital objects.

Ego Points – the game’s currency – is used to buy additional objects during game play.

Points are accumulated through a number of in-game actions.

If you need to buy a large quantity of Ego Points at one time (e.g., in order to purchase another living space), you can do that with a credit card, which must be first associated with your profile.

Adding Credit Cards

Credit cards can be added to your profile at two locations in the game: within the Account Settings dialog and via the purchase dialog when you are in the act of buying Ego Points.

Once associated with your profile, a credit card is available for selection at the time of future Ego Points purchases. There is no limit to the number of credit cards you can add to your Egowall profile.

To add a credit card for use in purchasing Ego Points, follow these steps:

Account Settings

1. Click the Account Settings button on the upper left portion of the interface

2. In the Payment Method section, click the Add Credit Card link.

3. Provide correct information for all the data entry fields (see image at right).

4. Click the Add Credit Card button to save the credit card information for later reference.

When Buying Ego Points

1. Click the Shop button at the lower left of the user interface to display the Shopping Panel.

2. Click on the You Have xxxx Ego Points link in the upper right corner of the Shopping Panel.

3. Click on one of the available Ego Points packages (250/500/1000).

4. Click on the Enter Card Manually link.

5. Provide correct information for all the data entry fields.

6. Click the Buy Now button to complete the purchase and save the credit card information for later reference.

NOTE: Credit card information is protected by SSL encryption when it is exchanged between your browser and the Egowall website. To protect any data you store on our servers, Egowall also regularly audits its system for possible vulnerabilities and attacks, and we use a tier-one secured-access data center.

Buying Stuff

Now that you know how to acquire Ego Points, it’s time to look at the process for using them to purchase objects in Egowall.

Living Spaces

Egowall users may buy any of sixteen available living spaces. To buy a living space, follow these steps:

1. Click the Shop button at the lower left of the user interface to display the Shopping Panel.

2. Click on the Spaces tab.

3. Click on one of the available living spaces to display its Living Space Detail Panel.

4. You will see either a Buy Now button (if you don’t own any instances of the selected space) or a Buy Another button (if you do); see image at right.

5. Click the Buy Now or Buy Another button (as appropriate) to purchase an instance of the living space.

6. The number of available Ego Points will be decremented by the cost of the living space.

7. Click the Spaces button on the left side of the screen to see your new space.

Furniture and More

Furniture and other 3D objects can be bought from the Shopping Panel or while you are visiting a living space, as described below.

Shopping Panel

To purchase an item of furniture from the Shopping Panel, follow these steps:

1. Click the Shop button at the lower left of the user interface to display the Shopping Panel.

2. Click on the Furniture tab.

3. Navigate to the desired Theme / furniture type (e.g., Contemporary | Living Room).

4. Click on one of the available furniture objects to display its Furniture Detail Panel.

5. You will see either a Buy Now button (if you don’t own any instances of the selected object) or a Buy Another button (if you do).

6. Click the Buy Now or Buy Another button (as appropriate) to purchase an instance of the object and add it to your available inventory.

7. The number of available Ego Points will be decremented by the cost of the furniture item.

Within Living Spaces

To purchase an item of furniture while visiting a living space (either your own or that of a connection):

1. Enter a room in the living space where the desired furniture object is located.

2. Click the Select button on the Palette Toolbar.

3. Click on the desired furniture object.

4. Click on the name of the furniture object in the lower left of the screen.

5. You will see either a Buy Now button (if you don’t own any instances of the selected object) or a Buy Another button (if you do).

6. Click the Buy Now or Buy Another button (as appropriate) to purchase an instance of the object and add it to your available inventory.

7. The number of available Ego Points will be decremented by the cost of the furniture item.
