Human Cloning On The Way? Furniture Cloning Is Here Today.

This is the second of two posts about the how-tos of furniture management in Egowall.

In part one we described the procedures for initial placement, selection (once placed), and movement of furniture objects within the Egowall game space.

To complete the discussion, we will now focus on the rotation, scaling (where available), cloning and reboxing of placed objects.

Rotation

Placed furniture objects can be rotated independently in all three axes (X, Y, and Z).

To rotate a placed object in the currently occupied room, follow these steps:

Rotating a Placed Furniture Object

  1. Click the Rotate button in the Palette Toolbar or the “t”/”T” shortcut key to activate the rotate function.
  2. Click on the object to be rotated; the Rotation Menu will appear.
  3. Click in the Rotation Menu to identify the axis the object is to be rotated on.
  4. Choose one of the following rotation methods:
    • Click and hold the left- or right-rotation keys to free rotate the object; release the mouse when you want the object to stop moving, OR
    • Click on one of the Quick Change rotation buttons (45 ° left / 45 ° right / 180 ° / Reset) to rotate the object the specified amount (or to return it to its original position).
  5. Click anywhere in the UI to close the Rotate menu.
  6. The Rotate button on the Palette Menu will remain selected.

Scaling

NOTE: These instructions only apply to those furniture objects which can be scaled.

Scalable objects can either be scaled independently in all three axes (X, Y, and Z) or simultaneously in all three axes.

To resize a scalable furniture object in the currently occupied room, follow these steps:

Scaling a Furniture Object

  1. Click on the Scale button on the Palette Toolbar or type the “e”/”E” shortcut key.
  2. Click on the object to be scaled; the Object Scaling Menu and the Scaling Axes both appear.
    • Scaling with the Object Scaling Menu
      • Click to choose which axis/axes (X, Y, Z, or all) you want to scale
      • Click and hold the left- or right-rotation keys to scale/resize the object; release the mouse when you want the object to stop scaling, OR
      • Click on one of the Quick Set scaling buttons (25% / 50% / 100% / 200%).
    • Scaling with the Scaling Axes
      • Click-and-drag or X, Y, or Z axis arrows to scale/resize the object along that axis, OR
      • Click-and-drag on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to resize the object in all three axes simultaneously.
    • Click anywhere in the UI to close the Object Scaling Menu and the Scaling Axes.
    • The Scale button on the Palette Menu will remain selected.

Cloning

To clone a furniture object placed in the currently occupied room, follow these steps:

Cloning an Object When You Have None in Inventory

  1. Click on the Clone button on the Palette Toolbar or type the “c”/”C” shortcut key.
  2. Click on the desired object.
  3. If you already own another instance of the selected object
    • Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off)
    • Move the cursor away from the selected object and a copy of it (pulled from your existing inventory) will appear
    • Click on the spot where you want to place the cloned object
    • After initial placement, if you want to tweak the location of the placed object, you can do so by
      • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along that axis, OR
      • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to move the object freely in the space
    • Once you’ve settled on the proper position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it, which will also clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu.
  4. If you do not already own another instance of the selected object
    • Click on the Buy Now button to purchase another instance of the object
    • Click on the Add to Space button
    • Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off)
    • Click on the spot where you want to place the cloned object
    • After initial placement, if you want to tweak the location of the placed object, you can do so by
      • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along that axis, OR
      • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to move the object freely in the space
    • Once you’ve settled on the final position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it, which will also clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu.

Reboxing

To rebox a furniture object in a room in the currently occupied space, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Rebox button on the Palette Toolbar or type the “x”/”X” shortcut key.
  2. Click on the object to be returned to inventory. NOTE: You will not be prompted to verify the reboxing action and it cannot be undone.
  3. The object disappears from the game and is returned to inventory.
  4. The Rebox button on the Palette Menu remains selected.

So that’s it. You are now equipped with everything you need to manipulate furniture objects in the latest Egowall release.
