How To Overcome Instagram’s Changes and Keep Favorite Posts In Sight

You have probably noticed that the Instagram app on your phone or tablet has taken on a new look.

In addition to a new logo, the internal appearance of the app has changed significantly. While the app icon has become more colorful, the app itself has become much less so.

Liking and commenting on posts will help you see them at the top of your Instagram feed.

But a much more important recent change is the enhanced Instagram algorithm.

If you take a close look at your own Instagram feed, you will notice that it’s no longer in chronological order with newest posts appearing at the top of the feed.

Instead, you’ll see posts displayed in the order that Instagram deems the most important to you. This is much like the way that Facebook – which owns Instagram – prioritizes the content in its News Feed.

Going forward, the order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post.

Turning on post notifications helps you prioritize your Instagram feed.

We’re bringing all of this up because we want to make sure that you continue to see our daily Instagram posts.

There are two ways to make this happen:

First, seek out our posts in your mobile app or on the web.

Then engage with them (with likes and/or comments). Liking and commenting on posts will help you see them at the top of your feed.

Or, alternatively, click on the three dots at the top right of their photo or profile and select Turn On Post Notifications.

This won’t switch your feed back to a chronological one, but will help ensure that you don’t miss out on our posts.

Please note that you will receive a push notification on your mobile device when we post a new image, but we generally only do that once each day (and never on Sundays).

There you have it. Just make a couple of quick selections on your phone or mobile device and you won’t have to worry about missing out when we (or any of your other favorite Instagrammers) post a new picture or video.

So follow us on Instagram and let’s keep in touch!
